Safe Air Travel

Why is Air Travel Safe During the Pandemic Process? Is it possible to travel by plane during the covid19 epidemic?

What you need to know about the pandemic process.

How safe is air travel during the coronavirus outbreak? Take a closer look at frequently asked questions about changing airline practices during the pandemic.

What is the HES code? Where can I get HES code?

The HES (Hayat Eve Sığar) code is a requirement only for domestic flights in Turkey, and you can create your HES code by logging into Estate from this page.

Is it necessary to have a medical report to get on the plane?

Passengers departing from abroad and arriving in Turkey are required to submit a negative PCR test, the sample of which was given maximum 72 hours before their flight time. HES code is requested from passengers who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey on domestic and Cyprus flights. Passengers who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey coming from abroad and transferring within the country do not have to show the HEPP code as long as the transit time does not exceed 12 hours. Passenger admissions on international flights are made according to the restrictions of the destination country.

I have a Travel Permit. Do I need to have my HES code to join flights?

Travel Permit is not used instead of HEPP code.

Can I travel intercity? Can I join the flights?

In line with the circular published by the Ministry of Interior on April 26, 2021, a full closure will be implemented across the country from 19:00 on Thursday, April 29, 2021 to 05:00 on Monday, May 17, 2021. For this reason, all passengers, regardless of age, must have a travel permit on domestic flights. In order to participate in domestic flights, you must have your HES code as well as your travel permit. Click for more detailed information about Travel Permit.

Is it mandatory to wear a mask throughout the flight during the pandemic process?

The use of masks is mandatory at the entrance to the plane and throughout the flight, as well as inside the airport. You can only use surgical masks (vented masks are not accepted). Since disposable surgical masks need to be changed every 4 hours, passengers using these masks will need to have a sufficient number of masks ready.

How does the in-flight ventilation system work?

During the flight, the air inside the cabin is constantly cleaned with hospital-standard High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter (HEPA) systems. With this filtration system, the air inside the aircraft is periodically completely renewed approximately every 3 minutes. HEPA filters (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter); It is a special filtering system that can purify 99.97% of airborne particles up to 0.3 microns. The systems on our airplanes transfer fresh air from the cabin ceiling into the cabin and pull it from the lower section to the HEPA filters and out. Thus, the air in the cabin does not circulate between the seats in the horizontal plane.

How are airplanes disinfected during the pandemic process?

Planes are disinfected by a special team before each flight. Disinfection process all passenger contact points (tables, armrests, belts, screens, remotes, overhead lockers, air vents, reading lights, side panels, windows, sinks, partitions, magazine racks, decorative panels, cabinets/lockers, etc.) .) are carried out with care. In addition, when the planes complete their flights, they are prepared for the new day by being subjected to a two-stage disinfection process.

Airbus chief engineer: "The air on the plane is very clean."

Jean-Brice Dumont says that modern airplanes are designed to have very clean air.

Normally the air taken from the outside of the aircraft via the engine is mixed with the converted air inside the cabin. To keep the temperature and humidity at the right level, the reused recycled air is passed through HEPA (Very Sensitive Air Filter) filters similar to those in hospitals.

'HEPA filters catch coronavirus'

Covid 19 is about 125 nanometers in diameter (a nanometer is one billionth of a metre) and is within the particle capture capacity of HEPA filters. These filters can trap particles of 10 nanometers and larger.

Dumont continues:

“HEPA filters have a standard. Commercial aviation has the highest standards. They filter 99.97 percent of small particles the size of Covid-19. The flow direction of the air is also designed to minimize the risk of infection.

"Air moves vertically. Air exhaled above your head is discharged from under your feet. This reduces the spread of anything in the air. So a passenger sitting in the first row cannot infect a passenger in the 20th row."
